So, Deathwind launcher ( 12" St 5 AP- Hvy 1 Lrg Blast) or Stormbolter ( Rg 24" St 4 AP5 Assult 2)for a drop pod?
Thoughts, suggestions?

Normally I would concur with my Necron friend. However in this case, having run both styles, and being the master of the drop pod, I have to say that the storm bolter is better. Because the drop pod is very often right in the thick of things, the template has a very good chance to scatter back onto your own troops. It really depends on how you plan on running your drop pods. Keep in mind that any vehicles deep striking are considered moving at cruising speed and therefore cannot fire any weapons. This means that the drop pods can only fire defensive weapons the turn they come in.

Take my advice the storm bolter is the way to as Nurgle says.

Besides the fact that a storm bolter has better range.

I was mistaken in my previous post...Drop Pods cannot fire any weapons the turn they deep strike in since they count as moving at cruising speed and are not fast vehicles. However, this means that they also can only be hit on a 6 since they count as having moved. The following turn, however, the Drop Pod is Immobile and open topped.
